Let’s talk food

The food was authentic and flavourful Chinese dishes that you could see were crowd favourites within their community. With a wide variety of options, there’s something for everyone, and gave us a chance to try more traditional dishes compared to your local Chinese takeaway.

Here are some of the photos we took on our visit:

Definitely try the BBQ skewers, whether it’s pork, beef or lamb, the meat was succulent and generous portion sizes. The must try dish, if you’re looking for something authentic, is their signature Spicy Sea Bass Hotpot.

Nino & Josh

The food at Galaxy London combines bold, authentic flavours with a modern touch. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared, ensuring a satisfying meal. You can tell it’s a place to eat as there were many Asian locals who were eating at this place.

Venue and Vibes

The atmosphere is lively and fun, making it a perfect choice for group outings or celebrations. Big Easy: A Taste of the American South in London

Big Easy brings the American South to the heart of London. Known for its lip-smacking barbecue, fresh seafood, and lively atmosphere, this restaurant offers a taste of the deep south with a London twist.

Let’s talk food

Despite the lively atmosphere and promising menu, the food has fallen short over the recent years. Possibly due to the slower service, some dishes arrived lukewarm, which diminished the overall experience. The portion sizes, while generous, did little to compensate for the lack of freshness and seasoning. The staff still bring that southern hospitality friendly, but unfortunately, the quality of the food did not match the hype.

Here are some of the photos we took on our visit:

We made sure to order the lobster, as it was recommended. This was unfortunately a let down as there was barely any lobster meat and it arrived slightly cold.

Nino & Josh

The Menu

Venue and Vibes

With its rustic interiors and lively vibe, Big Easy feels like a slice of the South in London. The staff are friendly, and they even have live music which adds an extra bit of fun if you’re looking to unwind and indulge, especially for a casual drink.

Big Easy has a fun atmosphere, great to be able to unwind and catch up with friends. The service and staff were friendly which helped with the experience that we had, however I wouldn’t be going back anytime soon, as the food was a slight letdown. With lukewarm dishes, lackluster seasoning, and a noticeable absence of freshness, the meal did not justify the restaurant’s reputation.

Chicken George Jr: Where Fried Chicken Dreams Take Flight

Chicken George Jr is a family-run spot in Luton/Hitchin known for its incredible fried chicken dishes. It continues the legacy of the original Chicken George with its modern twists on classic comfort food. Loved by locals and visitors alike, it combines hearty portions with bold flavours that pack a punch.

What They Offer:

All things chicken! They offer juicy burgers, chicken strips, but the most important of them all is their delicious chicken wings. They have many different sauces to choose from, which means there is quite literally something for every chicken lover, and with two restaurants, one based in Hitchin and the other in Bedford, as well as a food truck, you can’t miss out.

Fun Fact – Chicken George’s restaurants were born in 1985 by a man called George Cheah in Luton. George handed his business over to his son Chris in 2015, and since Chicken George has been recognised nationally! In 2015, Chicken George won the best takeaway in the Southeast of England at the Just Eat Awards, and this was just the start of their awards, success, and progression as a restaurant/takeaway joint!

Let’s talk food

The food quality here is impressive! Everything is freshly prepared and consistently seasoned to perfection. The chicken is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and served with creative flavour combinations. It’s clear they put care into each dish.

Here are some of the photos we took on our visit:

Some dishes you need to try: Mango Rubicon Wings, Chicken George Whoppa, Doner Tots

Nino & Josh

Chicken George Jr isn’t just a chicken joint; it’s a place that elevates casual dining with its attention to detail and flavour. Every menu item feels like a fun elevated take on the old classics, making it a standout for fried chicken lovers.

The Menu

Venue and Vibes

The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, perfect for a casual chow down with a few beers. The staff are welcoming and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re dining in or taking away, the vibe is always inviting.

Chicken George Jr is a great space for everyone. The burgers range from £8.50- £11.50 and the wings are £6.50 for 4 or £8.50 for 6. The jumbo strips are £8.85. Although these prices are a little higher than normal (especially for outer London) I do have to say, we think it’s worth it!

Chin Chin, Pinner: Modern Pan Asian Dining with a Twist

Chin Chin in Pinner is an elegant spot that redefines Pan Asian dining with contemporary flair. Known for blending traditional Asian recipes with modern techniques, it offers a unique experience that caters to both purists and adventurous foodies.

Let’s talk food

The menu at Chin Chin celebrates rich flavours while pushing boundaries with its innovative twists. Expect beautifully plated dishes with bold colours. Unfortunately the food felt rather flat. Some of the dishes we tried were under seasoned and didn’t really elevate in flavour.

Here are some of the photos we took on our visit:

Disappointing – didn’t taste very fresh, and feels a little bit style of substance

Chin Chin’s modern interiors combine stylish elegance with warmth, wooden accents, and ambient lighting. The restaurant also boasts a cozy outdoor seating area, perfect for summer evenings.

They had some of the best peking duck we’ve ever had and the selection of dimsum especially the mushroom & spinach and the wagyu w/ hot & sour broth was amazing.
